Accepting Year 10 & 11 students for the Autumn Term

Take the stress out of GCSE English

Delivering dedicated, one-to-one tuition as a highly experienced and dedicated classroom teacher, I specialise in building confidence, turning grade 2s and 3s into solid 5s and pushing high achievers to grade 9s.

Hi, I am Steve

After 30 years of experience teaching English in Hampshire, 20 as Head of Department, in both independent and mainstream settings, I see the value of a personalised approach and one-to-one guidance.

I made the switch to dedicated home tutoring because I believe in the power of absolute focus; without classroom distractions, I can pinpoint exactly what your child finds difficult and find tried and tested, lasting solutions.

I value taking those with low confidence and predicted grades to a secure 5, as much as harnessing the potential of high fliers to make a grade 9.

Why wait until Spring?

The biggest mistake students make is waiting until the Spring Term to cram for their GCSEs. I would encourage students to begin sessions with me in the Autumn Term, or the second half of the Summer Term in Year 10 and watch their grades improve.

Steady, consistent work builds true capability and removes the panic from GCSE exams.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about how the sessions work.

Where do the sessions take place?

I focus primarily on face-to-face tuition here in Chandler's Ford. I offer both weekly and fortnightly sessions to best suit your child's schedule and needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

Consistency is key to a student's success. Therefore, I require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Short-notice cancellations will be charged at the full rate to protect my teaching schedule.

When are you available?

I offer sessions throughout the day, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate different school schedules. My calendar fills up quickly, especially closer to exam season, so I would recommend booking early to secure a regular slot.
