Terms and conditions
Last updated: April 2026
1. Introduction
These terms and conditions govern the provision of private tutoring services by Steve ("the Tutor") to the student or the student's parent/guardian ("the Client"). By booking a tutoring session, you agree to be bound by these terms.
2. Bookings and payment
- Scheduling: All sessions are booked via the online scheduling system (Cal.com) available on the website.
- Payment processing: Payments are processed securely via Stripe at the time of booking or via automated invoicing.
- Taster sessions: The introductory "taster for a tenner" (£10) must be paid in full at the time of booking to secure the slot.
- Ongoing tuition: Regular sessions (£50/hour) are either billed at the time of booking or invoiced according to a mutually agreed schedule. Payment must be cleared prior to the commencement of the session.
3. Cancellation and rescheduling policy
Consistency is vital for academic progress. To protect the Tutor's teaching schedule and ensure fairness to other students, a strict cancellation policy applies:
- 24 hours' notice: If a session needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, a minimum of 24 hours' notice must be provided. In this instance, the session can be rescheduled or refunded without penalty.
- Late cancellations: Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or failure to attend a scheduled session (no-show), will be charged at the full 100% rate of the session.
- Tutor cancellations: In the rare event that the Tutor must cancel a session due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, the Client will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule at their convenience.
4. Lateness
- If the student is late, the Tutor will wait for 15 minutes. If the student has not arrived or joined the online meeting within 15 minutes, the session will be deemed a "no-show" and the full fee will apply.
- Sessions will end at the originally scheduled time, regardless of the student's late arrival, to avoid disrupting subsequent bookings.
5. Location and technical requirements
- In-person sessions: Take place at the Tutor's designated address in Chandler's Ford. The Client is responsible for dropping off and collecting the student on time.
- Online sessions: The Client is responsible for ensuring the student has a stable internet connection, a working microphone, and a webcam. The Tutor is not responsible for time lost due to the Client's technical difficulties.
6. Limitation of liability
The Tutor will provide the highest quality of educational support, utilising 30 years of teaching experience and Head of Department expertise. However, the Tutor cannot guarantee specific exam grades, university admissions, or assessment outcomes. Academic success relies heavily on the student's own effort, independent revision, and performance on the day of the exam.
7. Termination
Either party may terminate the ongoing tutoring agreement at any time by providing written notice. Any pre-paid sessions that have not yet occurred (and fall outside the 24-hour cancellation window) will be fully refunded.
